Whether you knew his as Benjamin Durward McGowen, Benny, Bosco, Fonzie, Bods, or Uncle Binky, you adored him. To my dad was to love him. My dad was born to June and J.M. McGowen on June 3, 1953. Dad gained his new Heavenly body on August 29, 2017. We are so proud of our daddy and cant wait to walk the streets of gold with him.

Dad was his momma’s boy. Growing up, dad had a love for wild animals. He was known to have an owl, an alligator, and a couple of raccoons. When he got older, Dad had a love for sports cars. You could always find Fonzie cruising around town in his Chevelle, Mustang, or Corvette. Dad gave up the sports cars for more family friendly vehicles after he married Billie Jo Clanton and had two kids, Josh (Meathhead) and Jil (Pumpkin).

Dad later met his wife Judy, an angel who took the best care of him until his final breath. Dad and Judy lived south of town on “the farm”. Dad’s land was his pride and joy. He loved taking his grandkids and dog all over the acreage on his golf cart. After dad have his heart to Jesus he began showing his love for Christ through his iron work. He loved to make beautiful horseshoe creations for people. Dad spent his last good days welding Blue Lives Matter stars for police officers throughout Oklahoma. Dad showed us what true faith and strength is with his strong fight against cancer. He hardly ever missed church, no matter what kind of pain he was in.

He leaves behind his wife Judy Taylor McGowen, of Comanche; He also leaves his best friend and dog, Stewie. Dad is also survived by his son Josh McGowen and wife Courtney, Comanche; and daughter Jil McGowen Roebuck and husband Jessie, Comanche. He has three step children, Quinton Taylor, Comanche; and Jody Taylor and Mike Taylor, both of Duncan. He leaves behind his brother Gary McGowen and wife Jeanne, Comanche; and sister, Sandy Laminack and her husband Keith, Newcastle, OK; Dad has four nieces and many great nieces and nephews. Most importantly, dad leaves behind ten grandkids. He grandkids were his world. To him, they hung the moon.

Dad has two fathers, J.M. McGowen and Bill Seida, and his mom, June Seida, in Heaven with him.

Our hearts are broken, but we rejoice in knowing where he is. This is the GREATEST gift my dad could have ever left for us.

The funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. Officiants will be Dee Bowen and Jimmy Morgan. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
