GILPIN Agnes G. (Smith) of Maynard, formerly of South Boston where she lived for 70 years, passed away February 9, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late William I. Gilpin. Loving mother of Dorothy MacAskill of Weymouth, Stephen Gilpin of New Ipswich NH, and Kevin Gilpin, his fianc Janice Farmer of Maynard. Devoted grandmother of Patricia Gilpin, Nicole Gilpin, Michael Hipe, Deborah Hughes, and Kim-Marie Drab, Great-grandmother of Rachel MacAskill, Stephen, Richard and Michael Hughes, Samantha, Erik, and Kathryn Hipe. Dear sister of Dorothy Manning of Randolph, the late Francis 'Buddy" Smith and Mary Steen. Agnes was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She graduated from Nazareth High School, Class of 1940 and retired from management at H.E Harris & Co. Agnes was also a lifelong Red Sox Fan and Yahtzee champion at home. Visiting hours in the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street. SOUTH BOSTON, Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass in St. Brigid Church, 841 East Fourth Street, South Boston, Thursday at 10:00 A.M. Interment New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend all services.
