George Yancey Armstrong, age 84, of Tyler, passed away on September 3, 2017.
Visitation will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler, on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Dale Perry, on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 1:00pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Interment will be at Tyler Memorial Park.
He was born in Mineola on August 25, 1937 to Jack Monroe Armstrong and Annie O'Banion. Mr. Armstrong was in the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsmen on the USS Seminole during the Korean War. He was an accountant and managing partner at Caldwell Welding Supply.
On August 28, 1954, he married Carolyn Sue Griffith in Hallsville.
George is survived by his wife Carolyn of 63 years, his sons, James Armstrong of Houston, Michael Armstrong and wife Cindy of Tyler, his daughter, Susan Waller and her husband Dennis of Tyler, his sister, Margaret Guthrie of Crockett, his brother, Lavon Cochran of Lindale. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole Salzillo, Jeff Armstrong, Mary Posey, Stephanie Miller, Joni Hammett and twelve great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Wanda Kirk, his brother, Sam Cochran and one son, Johnny Armstrong.
Pallbearers will be Charley Hill, Steve Hill, Jeff Armstrong, Alex Conrad, Bill Kirk, Daniel Posey, Terry Cochran, and Camden Armstrong.
