Rev. Marvin Edgar Rickert was the son of John Christian and Melinda Louisa (Hosler) Rickert. Leila Ruth (Schmidt) Rickert was his 1st wife. They were married by Rev. F. Schmidt June 24, 1931 Sutton, Nebraska. Leila died Buffalo, New York September 22, 1932. Alice McKay Rickert was his 2nd wife. Alice died June 23, 1994. Rev. Rickert was a minister in the New York Conference of the Evangelical Church. He was also a minister in the Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) Conference and Detroit Conference of The Methodist Church/United Methodist Church.

1995, Page 291Rev. Marvin E. Rickert, 97, passed away Friday, October 5, 2001 at Jennings Terrace, in Aurora, IL. Prior to May of 2001 he had resided at Devonshire Retirement Home in Lisle since 1995. He was born March 27, 1904 in Naperville, IL. He graduated from North Central College of Naperville in 1928. He attended Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville and later attended Yale Divinity, graduating in June of 1931 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. He ministered churches in New York, Ohio and Michigan and retired from the "Itinerant Appointment" system of Ministerial Service in June 1969 with membership in the Detroit Conference. Rev. Rickert is survived by a niece, Edith Rickert, of Oswego, nephews, Paul (Marion) Rickert of Hendersonville, North Carolina (formerly of Oswego) and Charles (Carolyn) Rickert of Marietta, Georgia and several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leila Ruth Schmidt, who died giving birth in 1932. He later married Alice McKay of Buffalo, New York, who died in 1994 living to the age of 101. His parents, John C. and Melinda (Hosler) Rickert; brothers, John S., Charles Hobart and Robert Rickert; sisters, Amelia, Abigail and Gladys and a nephew, John Holbrook (Ann) Rickert of Colorado also preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. from Community United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center Rd., Naperville, IL. Interment will be in Buffalo, New York. Memorials may be made to the church.
