Hall of Fame Professional Hockey Player. For fourteen seasons (1955 to 1969), he played at the defenseman position in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs. Raised in Fort Eire, Ontario, he was promoted to the NHL with Chicago during the 1955-1956 season. During the course of his career, he established himself as one of the most feared defensemen of his era, in addition to being highly-durable. He experienced a Stanley Cup championship with the Blackhawks in 1961 and individually, he earned the Norris Trophy three consecutive years (1963 to 1965). In 890 career regular season games, he compiled 80 goals with 418 assists. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975.
