Actor. A veteran of more than 40-years on stage, television and films, he appeared in a wide range of roles. Following service with the United States Navy during World War II, he enrolled at the University of Richmond, from where he received his degree in Theater Arts. After an extensive period on the local theater circuit, he experienced his break in the off-Broadway production "The Fantasticks" in 1960. He went on to his Broadway debut in the play "We Bombed in New Haven" (1968) and additionally during that year, he made his TV debut in the supernaturally-themed soap opera "Dark Shadows". He broke into motion picture with "Gordon's War" (1973) and followed this with the action-thriller "Three Days of the Condor" (1975). Rowe distinguished himself when he received a Drama Desk Award nomination for his origination of 'Arthur Kirk' (played by Karl Malden in the 1987 film adaptation) in the Broadway production of "Nuts" (1980). Among his other television credits include "Newhart", "Dallas", "The Office" and "Modern Family", among many others. He died in an automobile accident.
