James Roy McCravey passed away peacefully on February 14, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. He moved from Baytown, Texas to Oxnard, California after Hurricane Rita in 2005, to be with California family members.

James was born on October 22, 1936 to Harold and Daisy McCravey (both deceased), in Mexia, Texas.

He served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1954 to 1956 then served active duty in the Air force from 1956 to 1961. During his tour in the Philippines, he married Cresencia ("Nancy") E. Vilamor, and they remained happily married until her death in 1999.

James worked for many years at HEB in Corpus Christi, Texas until his retirement.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cresencia ("Mabel") E. Dack in 1974.

James was the father to three other daughters who survive him, Mary Croom of St. Petersburg, Florida (husband, Miles), Cheryl Monzon of Oxnard, California (husband, Justo), and Jimmie Wilding of San Diego, California (husband, David). He was grandfather to and brought up Rachel McCravey of Houston, Texas and William Griffin of Fairfield, California (wife, Milainee). He loved all his grandchildren, which also include, Jeremiah Monzon of San Diego, California, Christian Monzon of Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, Jonathan Ramos and Mark Wilding of San Diego, California; and James also adored his great-grandchildren, Justin McCravey, Tabitha Monzon, Stormie Wright, Ysabelle Griffin, and Gabriel Monzon.

James married Josie Armas in July, 2006. She also survives him.

A memorial service with military honors was held Mar. 15 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.

James was buried with Cresencia in Corpus Christi, Texas on their wedding anniversary day, March 15, 2007 at Seaside Memorial Park.
