Professional Football Player. For five seasons (1983 to 1984 and 1987 to 1989), he played at the punter position in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. Born William Charles Scribner, he make his first mark on the football field during his years at Lawrence High School in Kansas. He played collegiate football at the University of Kansas and during his years there, he achieved all-Big Eight honors. Selected by the Green Bay Packers during the 11th round of the 1983 NFL Draft, he made an immediate impression on the league during his rookie year, as he produced a 70-yard punt which was tops in the NFL. In 68 career regular season games, he compiled 330 punts, for 13,543 yards. He died of complications from a brain tumor.
