Alexander T. Martinchek, 92, of Mountain Top, entered into the next realm on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017.

Born in Brickyard, on Dec. 29, 1924, he was the son of the late Alexander and Veronica Martinchek.

He graduated from Freeland High School and spent his working years at Federal Business Products, West Hazleton, as a plant supervisor, retiring in 1986.

Alex was a member of St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top.

He used to jokingly open up this very newspaper in the morning to check the obituary section, scanning it carefully for his name. Once satisfied that his name wasn't there, he felt confident to start his day.

Alex knew how to make everyone laugh in the most unconventional way. Upon retirement Alex never missed a beat, spending his time traveling with Nancy, perfecting his lawn, tinkering around with small engines and tractors, spending time with lifelong friends and baling hay on his son's farm.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife, Nancy, on Oct. 22, 2011, after sharing 57 years of marriage.

Surviving are his son, James and wife, June, Dorrance Twp.; daughter, Carla Martinchek, El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Leigh Martinchek, New York; Neil and wife, Alexis Martinchek, Mountain Top; and Kyle Camara, New Zealand; great-grandchildren, Liam, Alayna and Hayden Martinchek; sisters, Martha Palermo, Virginia; Helen Mai, Texas; and Emmie Facenda, White Haven; brother, Thomas Martinchek, New York; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Highland Park Senior Living Center for the care and compassion they gave to Alex over the last year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Jude's Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
