Actor. He was a veteran character actor who was known to both television and film viewers in both Czechosolvakia (later Czech Republic) and the United States for his acting during a seven decade career. He started acting in his native Czechosolvakia, appearing in film, television, and on the theatrical stage. After signing a human rights manifesto, inspired by his friend Vaclav Havel, in 1977, he came to the United States, where he continued to appear in both films and television. Among his notable appearances in film and television in the United States were "Ragtime" (1981), "Reds" (1981), "Falcon Crest", "Fantasy Island", "Airwolf", "Hotel", "The Karate Kid Part III" (1989), "Quantum Leap", "Hunter", "Andersonville", "The People vs. Larry Flynt" (1996), "Highlander", and "Ronin" (1998). After the Velvet Revolution of 1989, he made numerous visits back to his homeland and made appearances in both films and television there. He also performed on the theatrical stage in his home country. He was awarded the Award for Artistic Excellence at the 2006 Bratislava International Film Festival. He passed away after falling from the Charles Bridge in Prague, the Czech Republic.
