Mildred Gwinn Bishop, 98, of Princeton died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA. Born October 3, 1918 in Princeton she was the daughter of the late James Enos Gwinn and Virgie Mae Richmond Gwinn. Millie was a 1936 graduate of Princeton High School and a graduate of West Virginia Business College. She was retired from Appalachian Power Company where she began her career in April 1952 as a secretary/stenographer and retired as the secretary to the Bluefield Division Superintendent in October 1983. Millie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton and also a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Teda Houchins; one brother, James Gwinn; five sisters, Gladys G. Powell, Alfreda G. McCoy, Juanita Gwinn, Eva E. Gwinn, and Garnet Moore. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include her son-in-law, Tom Houchins of Baytown, TX; three grandsons, David Houchins and wife Leslie of Spring, TX, Mike Houchins and wife Lollie of Baytown, TX, and Randy Houchins and wife Amy of Austin, TX; six great grandchildren, Harrison and Hailey Houchins of Spring, TX, Zachary and Keenan Houchins of Baytown, TX, and Erin and Jacqueline Houchins of Austin, TX; nephew, Dr. William Powell of Hartwell, GA; and niece, Nancy Tompkins of Rehoboth Beach, DE. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 17, 2017 at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Men of the Church will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton by 10:30 AM on Friday. In lieu of flowers, Mille requested monetary donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 1116 Mercer St., Princeton, WV 24740.
