Allen C. Minnix Jr., 84, a partner with his father in the operation of a general contracting company, Allen C. Minnix and Son, died of pneumonia Oct. 16 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Mr. Minnix was a fourth-generation Washingtonian. He attended Western High School and Lafayette College. During World War II, he served in the Army.
About 15 years ago, he retired from the operation of Allen C. Minnix and Son, a contracting firm that worked on residential and commercial construction projects. For two years, Mr. Minnix was chairman of the National Association of Builders Home Show in Washington.
He was a resident of Chevy Chase and Rehoboth Beach, Del., and a member of Columbia Country Club and the Rehoboth Beach Golf Club.
With his sister, Yardley M. Manfuso, Mr. Minnix had sponsored the Minnix Memorial Golf Tournament at Columbia Country Club for 20 years. He was an usher at All Saints Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase.
His wife, Maitland Macdonald Minnix, died in 1973.
Survivors include four children, Hunter Minnix of Detroit, Maitland Rice of Edgewater and Alison Fuhrman and Allen Clark Minnix III, both of Frederick; his sister, of Chevy Chase; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
