Daughter of the famous cellist Robert Lindley, Eliza married composer John Barnett in 1837 at St George Bloomsbury. The couple spent most of their life together living in Cheltenham. Their children were all musical and their daughter Clara was a well-known operatic soprano (using the stage name Clara Doria).
