Engelbert arrived in American in 1893, at the age of 27.

Then on 7 Jan 1906 he married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Springler in Los Angles, Los Angles Co., CA. They had no children.

His obituary reads as follows:

Rosary for Engelbert Ricker, 90, old-time Eagle Rock resident, who died Sunday, will be recited at the Utter-McKinley-Cresse Mortuary, 4824 Eagle Rock Blvd., at 8:15 p.m tomorrow. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Thursday in St. Dominic’s Church, with interment to follow in the Calvary Mausoleum. Mr. Ricker, who retired in 1913 as the owner of a meat market. In 1920 he lived at 523 Colorado Blvd., but by 1940 he lived at 2525 Colorado Blvd., Eagle rock, where he and his wife lived for many years, but moved after the death of his wife four years ago and was making his home at 3536 N. Figueroa St. at the time of his death. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany and came to the United States in 1893. He was active in building up St. Dominic’s parish and was one of its oldest members. He leaves no relatives here.
