John T. May, 82, of Newton died at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 1978, in Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Pulliam funeral home. Burial followed in the Vanderhoof cemetery.
Mr. May was born Feb. 2, 1896, in Jasper county, a son of Winston and Ella (Upton) May.
He married Fay Jourdan in 1920 and she preceded him in death in 1956. He then married Etha Sims in 1962 and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Mrs. Richard (Rita) Donnelly of Newton and Mrs. Eugene (Judy) Morr of Jewett; step-son Donnie Sims of Wooster, Ohio; step-daughter, Mrs. Carl (Betty) Allen of Silver Springs, Maryland; brothers Ira May of Newton and Olen May of New Athens; sister, Mrs. E.O. (Eunice) Jenkins of Olney; three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Two brothers and one grandchild preceded him in death.
