Sultina (Sultana), formally enslaved by James Waugh (1768-1844) of Waughtown then enslaved by James's daughter Mary (1814-1842) and her husband/ cousin, Harrison Moffit Waugh (1804-1882). She was about 103 years of age at the time of death. Well known throughout the Dobson area, she had been a domestic servant in the home of the L.J. Norman (a clerk of court) and his family for many years. The mentioning of her death was reported in the Greensboro Patriot on Jan. 11, 1926.

Sultina had several children, shown in the 1870 census as Liza--15, Wade--9, Martha--8, and Cara--1.
