Actress. Born Elizabeth Rosalind Miller in Pensecola, Florida, the daughter of Laura Ophelia Satterwhite and Fred Augustus Miller. After high school, she went to New York where she found work as a model under the name Betty Miller. In 1935, she was invited to a screen test for Columbia Pictures, and was signed as a contract player. She appeared in more than a dozen features such as 'Dangerous Intrigue' (1936); 'Meet Nero Wolfe' (1936); 'The Devil is Driving' (1937); 'Start Cheering' (1938); 'Blind Alley' (1939); and 'Strange Alibi' (1940). She then left Columbia and was picked up by Warner Bros. Where she appeared in 'International Squadron' (1941) and 'Nine Lives Are Not Enough' (1941). It was to be her last film. In 1941 she retired from the screen to wed Columbia Pictures co-founder and president, Harry Cohn, and with him had four children. She was widowed in 1958, and entered into a very brief rebound marriage with businessman, Harry Karl, the following year. Another marriage, a decade later, to British actor Laurence Harvey, also ended in divorce. She succumbed to emphysema at age 85 at her home in Montecito, California, and was interred at Hollywood Memorial Park beside Harry Cohn.
