Mary Melvina Sands was the daughter of Joseph Binford Sands and Sarah Gibbs, both of whom are also interred at Mount Calvary Cemetery. She was a musician, mastering several instruments including the harp, organ, and piano. She taught music during the Great Depression and in so doing raised her three daughters alone.
