HAMILTON - Willene Pounders Gilliland, 70, died March 28, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with the Rev. Terry Edwards and Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Gilliland was born Dec. 22, 1936, in Monroe County to the late Daniel Morgan Pounders and Della Smith Pounders. She was a lifelong resident of Hamilton and a member of Center Hill Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and Vaughn's Beauty College. She was a beautician and the owner of Willene's Beauty Shop in Hamilton. She was also a dispatcher for 911 of Monroe County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Pounders. She is survived by her husband, Donald Gilliland of Hamilton; daughter, Michelle Gilliland Hyland of Hamilton; son, Mark Gilliland of Hamilton; sisters, Allene Pounders Head of Hamilton, Linda Pounders Barham of Mountain View, Okla., Garah Pounders Redditt of Vicksburg and Enzena Pounders Ellis of Hamilton; brothers, Dea O. and Charles Austin Pounders, both of Aberdeen, and Kenneth Pounders of Hamilton; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Clegg, Tim Wilson, Chris Ellis, Tommy Head, Sterlig Coleman, Sammy Smith, Richard Easter and David Boozer.
