Lewis was a house painter and glazier. He had been apprenticed to Isaac Walker of Chester county. Isaac married Lewis' sister Maria. Lewis met Isaac when they lived next door to each other in Kennett Square about 1850 to 1860. Lewis' middle name was probably Taylor.

4. Ella is Lewis McLachlan's wife (Public Ledger listing of their marraige)
5. Florence is the daughter of Lewis and Ella (Phila. marraige license records)
6. Passmore Walker is the son of Isaac Walker who lived at the Enoch Passmore farm in Chichester Twp., Delaware County in 1850 with George McLachlan and family as next door neighbors. In 1860, Isaac Walker had his own residence and Isaac Walker, Enoch Passmore and George McLachlan were still neighbors in Chichester. George's son Lewis was apprentice under Isaac Walker as house painter. In the mid-1850s, Isaac Walker and George McLachlan and family moved to Philadelphia together. George McLachlan died 1857. Isaac Walker and his wife Isabella both died in 1864. All three are buried in the same lot at Mt. Moriah in Philadelphia. George McLachlan's widow raised the orphaned Walker children with her own. One of the Walker children was named Passmore Walker, apparently in honor of farmer Enoch Passmore.

1874 Gopsill's City Directory: painter, 1224 N. 10th St. (brother George's residence), with residence at 1608 Alder St.

Lewis was still a member (married) in 1875 of the Hancock Street Church. A "L" appeared on his record, indicating that he later dropped.

McLACHLAN - On the 25th inst., Lewis T. McLachlan, in the 34th year of his age. The relatives and friends, also Athelstan Lodge No. 482 A.Y.M., Palestine Chapter, No. 240, and Mary Commandery, No. 36, K. T., are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, No. 1608 Alder street, on Sunday, October 28th at 1 o'clock P.M.
