She was born November 6, 1924 in Norse, Texas to Edwin Theodore Berg and Lennie Dee Murphee Berg. She was a graduate of Clifton High School, in Clifton, Texas. Eunice married Henry Simmons on September 22, 1942 in Onset, Massachusetts. She was a retired Dillard's employee.
Eunice was best known for her devotion to her Lord and Savior; a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and caring friend. She loved birds and all things Norwegion. She was an avid member of Windsor Park Baptist Church. Her gentle nature and sweet smile warmed all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Lennie Berg; a brother, Vernon Ray Berg; a beloved daughter, Vicki Laverne Sorrows; son, Bill Henry Simmons; and beloved sister-in-law Shirley Ruth Mims Berg.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Henry; two brothers, Murrell Alton Berg (Joy) of Angleton, Texas, and Preston Odell Berg (Wanda) of Deer Park, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Kay Miller(Jack) of Houston, Texas, and Martha Sue Oehlert (Rodney), of Sycamore, Illinois; son-in-law Lee Sorrows; daughter-in-law Sheila Simmons of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Sue Simmons (Eric), Christine Renee Oehlert, of Sycamore, Illinois; Kasondra Marie Maleski, Stephen Lee Sorrows, Russell Dean Sorrows, Danielle Nicole Martinez (Chris) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Shawn Ira Simmons (Stephany) of the Dallas, Texas area; Zachery Lane Simmons (U.S. Army) of Germany; and seven beloved great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Windsor Park Baptist Church. Interment followed at Seaside Memorial Park.
