Army Sgt Hicks was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry, Fort Benning, Georgia. Hicks was killed when the vehicle he was in was involved in an explosion. From the time he was a small child, Glenn was always a thoughtful person. In third grade, his teacher told the class that she wanted multicolored chalk for Christmas. He was the only student to give her the colorful chalks because he was the only one who really listened. His family moved to Pantego, Texas while he was in his teens. He graduated from Arlington High School in 2000 where he was a member of the Arlington Teen Court and then attended Tarrant County College Southeast Campus and Blinn College in Bryan. Glenn enlisted in the Army in March 2004 and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and Soldier of the Month award. He was currently serving his second deployment to Iraq as a M1A1 Armor Crewman. Glenn enjoyed music, reading, camping and sports cars but one of his greatest passions was spending time with his siblings, aged 7 and 6. He was very modest and never flaunted his honors; he never expected a pat on the back for anything. He would just tell people to not make a fuss over him. Glenn's dream was to finish his college education, return to the Army as an officer and eventually sail the Mediterranean with his sweetheart, Samantha.
