Long-time Livingston resident Geneva A. Lott, 97 died Monday, Oct 11, 1999, at the McCarrick Care Center in Somerset, N.J. A memorial service will be held for her at St. Mary's Catholic Church Friday, Nov 5, at 11:30 a.m.
Mrs. Lott, the former Geneva O'Connor, was the daughter of former U.S. Congressman for Montana James F. O'Connor and Catherine Adams O'Connor. She was born Jan 7, 1902 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family moved to Livingston in 1904 and she graduated from Park County High School in 1920. In the mid-1920's she played the organ and the piano for silent movies at the Strand Theater. She left Livingston in 1937, living in Whitehall, Lewistown and Havre before returning in 1948. She owned and managed the Ebert Apartments from 1950 to 1969 and continued to live there for 17 years. In June 1983 she and members of the O'Connor, Russell, Forney and Ruby Jordan families gathered together for a weekend family reunion in Livingston. In 1986 she moved to Alamogordo, N.M. to live with her son, Thomas Russell, and family. She later moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to be with her son, Monte Forney, and family. She then moved to New Jersey with her youngest son, Mike Forney, and family and entered McCarrick Care Center in 1988.
Mrs. Lott was an active member and past president of the VFW, Havre Chapter, and numerous Livingston organizations and local chapters, including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Soroptimist Club, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Park County Senior Citizens. She also was a long-time volunteer at the Livingston Convalescent Center.
She served as organist at St. Mary's Parish for many years in both the old and new church. She also played at noon nearly every day at the Senior Citizens Center for more than 15 years. She continued to play the organ for residents at McCarrick Care Center until recently.
She is surved by her three sons, Tom Russell and Monte Forney, who are both retired and living in New Mexico with their families, and Mike Forney, who is the principal of a commercial mortgage banking company in Bernardsville, N.J.; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Lott's only daughter, Mary Clay, died in the early 1970's.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those contributions be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Memorial Fund, Livingston. The funds will be used to build a structure for the bell from the original church in the new St. Mary's building.
