JERRY W. DIXON SR., 63, of Glouster, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born August 1, 1943 in Canton, Ohio. He was a member of the Glouster Church of Christ, the Jacksonville V.F.W. Post #9866, and the Trimble Masonic Lodge #557. He retired from the Ohio Department of Corrections at the
Noble Correctional Institute in Caldwell. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran who retired as a Sergeant-Major with 29 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Jacalyn Rager Dixon of Glouster; his mother, Grace McClellan Dixon Rankin of Glouster; a daughter, Diane Dixon-Knott of Glouster; two sons, Jerry (Angie) Dixon of Beverly, and Michael Dixon of Glouster; two step-sons, Michael Brady of Fort Jackson, S.C., and Michael (Lucinda) Wilson of South Dakota; a step-daughter, Linda (John) Bunker of South Dakota; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Smith, and Louann (Jerry) Lenigar, both of Glouster; a brother, Richard (Linda) Dixon of Glouster; sisters-in-law, Joyce Dixon, Kathy Martsolf, Diana (Jessie) Schull, Charlotte (Mike) Grubbe and Rachel; brothers-in-law, Jack (Jennifer) Rager, and John (Paula) Rager; a mother-in-law, Charlotte (David Bray) Lawyer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Eileen Giffin Dixon; a granddaughter, Donna Eileen Knott; his father, John Dixon Sr; and a brother, John Dixon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Bishopville Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Glouster Cemetery where there will be a
military graveside service conducted by United States Army Honor Guard.
