AN ESTIMABLE WOMAN PASSES AWAY - Mrs. Katie Hykras, wife of Matthew Hykras residing three miles north of Centerville, died on March 23rd. The deceased was born in Finland May 1st, 1831, where she resided for 25 years. Afterwards moved to Norway where she was married to Matthew Hykras. In 1868 they moved to the United States, first settling at Kalamet, Michigan. A few years later, however, they came to the Pacific Coast and made a permanent home in the Klickitat valley. Seven children were born into them, four of whom are dead. One of the daughters is the wife of Bert Sanders of Goldendale; and the other the wife of K. Crocker of Centerville, and the third, a son, lives in the valley. The funeral of Mrs. Hykras took place on March 25, at the Finnish church, near Centerville, the attendance at the last sad rites to the deceased being very large. Mrs. Hykras was a most estimable woman and held in high esteem of by all who knew her.
