Daniel Bass was the father of the Outlaw Sam Bass, who was only 13 when his father died. His first wife, Elizabeth Jane Sheeks (mother of Sam and seven other children), is buried in Sheeks Cemetery in Bedford, Lawrence Co., Ind. His second wife was the widow Margaret A. Seibert Newkirk; Daniel died two and a half years after they were married. They had one son, Charles Bass, b ca 1863.
