His most favorite place to live was Wadena, MN. According to the research I have done so far, he was a farmer but I also remember my Mom telling me that he and Granny owned restaurants in Elbow Lake, Alexandria and Wadena, MN. She mentioned the Elbow Lake Cafe as Cozy Corner Cafe.
I found this information in the Census records. He and my Granny (Elizabeth Mary Stoderel) were married January 30, 1911 in Brown County, Aberdeen, SD. The Minister was M. Dermody. My Grandfather was 37 and Granny was 20 years old when they married.
They adopted my Mother, Mary "Andrena" in Aberdeen, SD in 1926. My Grandfather's parents came from Norway. Since there were a lot of Andrew Peterson's in Minnesota, it was not easy to obtain information about him, but when I did, I was overjoyed.
I will continue to research he and my Granny. He died when my Mother was 15 years old; it was a very sad time for her. She often talked about what a wonderful person he was and how she had missed him.
The headstone reads:
Andrew John Peterson
10 SEP 1871 - 20 APR 1939
However, according to the records I have researched, he was actually born in 1873.
I hope to find someone who has pictures of my grandfather someday.
Thank you Jim for taking a picture of my grandfather's headstone.
