A portrait of Stephen Moulton Babcock (22 October 1843 – 2 July 1931). He was born in Bridgewater, NY, the son of Peleg and Cornelia Babcock. In 1890, while working as an agricultural chemist at the University of Wisconsin he developed the Babcock test which determines the butterfat content of milk.
