ST. ALBANS ­ Mr. Robert A. Maynard, age 73, died Sunday evening, Aug. 26, 2001, in the Northwestern Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in St. Albans Dec. 5, 1927, son of the late Hubert and Nellie (Bressett) Maynard.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy following WWII and upon discharge, became an engineer for the Central Vermont Railway for the next 42 years. Since retirement, and for the past three years, Bob has been employed at Price Chopper Store in St. Albans. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #1, the Central Vermont Veterans Association and a communicant of Holy Angels Church.

Dec. 26, 1961 he married Eleanor Bourdeau. Besides his wife, Eleanor, he is survived by his five children and their spouses, Dawn and Jeffrey Laroe of St. Albans, Ellen and Amon Sylvester of Swanton, David S. Maynard of St. Albans, Marc and Beverly Dupuis of Waterford, Mich., Paul and Susette Dupuis of Waxhaw, N.C., his son-in-law, Timothy Coleman of Swanton;13 grandchildren, Seth Coleman, Taylor and her husband P.K. Hensel, Meredith Laroe, Nathan Laroe, Morgan Laroe, Ian Sylvester, Hillary Sylvester, Logan Sylvester, Kate Sylvester, and Mike Dowling, Michael Lovejoy, Keith Lovejoy and Brittany Spaulding; his three sisters and their husbands, Patricia and Jose Guevara of Havre, Mont., Claire and William Owens of Santa Anna, Calif., Carol and Roger Luneau of St. Albans, sister-in-law, Rosamond Maynard, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Hubert on March 6, 1989, Nellie on July 2, 1992, daughter Camilla "Cam" Coleman on Feb. 26, 1993, two brothers, John Maynardon Nov. 26, 1984, Hubert "Topper" Maynard on Dec. 5, 1987, and sister-in-law, Christine Maynard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment will follow in the Maynard family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
