Son of Abraham D. and Daisy B. Johnson; born July 17, 1897 at Young America, Cass County, Indiana. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army on April 15, 1913 at Terre Haute, Indiana. Served a three year enlistment. Discharged. Called into service on September 11, 1918 at Delphi, Carroll County, Indiana. Sent to Camp Taylor, Kentucky; assigned to 8th Company, 2nd Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia on October 11, 1918 at Camp Taylor, Kentucky. Buried in Masonic Cemetery, Young America, Cass County, Indiana. Died at age 21 years, 2 months, 26 days.
