Husband of Ada Belle (Olin) Story. Father of Ada Belle Newhall and William Story, Jr.

Parents: John Patten Story and Elizabeth Quarles.

William moved his family to Colorado in about 1874 where he settled in Denver until about 1877 when he moved to Ouray. He built up a large law practice and was lieutenant governor of Colorado from 1891-1893. In 1913 he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he established a law practice, Story & Steigmeyer. He then relocated to Los Angeles where he passed away in 1921.
