Father of U.S. President, Gerald R. Ford. Ford was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr. on July 14, 1913. His parents separated when he was just two weeks old. In 1916, Ford's mother remarried to Gerald R. Ford, a Grand Rapids, MI paint salesman. The Fords began calling her son Gerald R. Ford, Jr., although his name was not legally changed until 1935.
