Foye Kenneth Roberts was born on January 20, 1921 to Albert Lee and Mamie Bailey Roberts in Quanah,Texas.

He inlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 6, 1942. In the early morning of June 14, 1943, a B-17C Flying Fortress named the "Miss Every Morning Fix'n" converted to a passenger airplane to ferry American service personnel from New Guinea to Austrailia, took off from Mackay, Queensland with 41 service personnel on board. The pilot turned the aircraft around to over-fly the field when the B-17C crashed in Bakers Creek near Mackay. Mr. Roberts was the sole survivor. The crash was Australia's worst air disaster at that time.

On April 21, 1945, he married Vera Gillion in Sidney Australia. Mr. Roberts retired as an accountant from Burk Royalty Co. in 1978.

Survivors include his son, Kris Roberts and wife Cheryl, of Iowa Park; one sister, Mozelle Russell of Duncan, Okla.; two brothers, Wilburn Roberts of Olney, and Leathal Roberts of San Marcus; two grandchildren, Brandon Roberts and wife Samantha, and Taylor Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held for Mr. Roberts on Friday, Febuary 6, 2004 and was interred at Crestview Memorial Park.
