Harry C. McClaughry, age 95 of Hume, Missouri died Friday July 13, 2007 at St Lukes Hospital in Kansas City Missouri. He was born June 5, 1912 in Hewins, Kansas The son of Clarence and Myrtle Barnes McClaughry. Harry worked as cook in CC camp, drove a milk truck, and later owned a dairy farm east of Hume. He married Clarice Fry. She preceded him in death in 1977. He later married Lorene Horton. He was a member of the Hume United Methodist Church, Hume Lions Club, Stotesbury Grange, and served as mayor of Hume for ten years. Also preceding him in death was a son Kenneth and a daughter Beatrice Smarsh, two brothers Art and Ben and one sister Mayme. Harry is survived by his wife Lorene, a daughter Suzann New and husband Charles, a daughter-in-law Dixie McClaughry, two half sisters Lilly Howland and Phyllis Franklin, a step brother Charles Hartley, ten grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday July 18, 2007 at the Hume United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita Kansas. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Hume Missouri. Family suggests contribution to the United Methodist Church.
