In the 1900 U. S. Census of Newark, NJ, listed on page 108, line 17: BARKLIE, Archibald J., Brother (of Francis BARKLIE, head), W, M, born Dec 1862, age 37, single, born in New York; father born in Ireland, mother born in New York. Occupation is "Stockbroker." He is listed in the residence of his brother, Francis BARKLIE. Also, shown at this residence is his mother, Francis BARKLIE.
Archibald married Isabel "Belle" Armstrong Lippincott, whose husband, James Dundas Lippincott, had died in Philadelphia, 6 Mar 1905. JDL was a very wealthy man; AJB was a stockbrocker; Isabel was a wealthy widow; wonder if there was a connection between the three.
The New York Times carried a wedding announcement on 20 Mar 1910 and followed that on 21 Mar 1910 with the following:
...married at her home, 204 Rittenhouse Square West. After the wedding ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Barklie went to New York where they will remain until Tuesday morning when they will sail for Italy to spend Easter in Rome."
Isabel died 19 Jan 1937; Archibald died a few weeks later - 9 Feb 1937 at the Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia. They are both buried in the Frank C. Armstrong plot at Rock Creek, in Washington, D.C.
His wife, "Belle" inherited from the death of first husband, James Dundas Lippincott, At her death, Archie would have inherited from her death and at his death, whatever estate there was would have passed to his heirs, which I read was his sister.
