Mary Jane Corey Sunday is the mother of the famous Baseball Evangelist, William Ashley "Billy" Sunday.

Mary Jane Corey married William Sunday, a bricklayer, on October 18, 1856 in Story County, Iowa. William was the son of German immigrants named Sonntag, who anglicized, changed, their name to "Sunday" when they settled in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. William served in the Civil War and died when their son William Ashley "Billy" Sunday was only 2 months old.

Mary Jane married for the 2nd time to J. M Heizer on 11 August 1864 in Story County, Iowa. She had two children with Heizer, Leroy and Lizzie. Lizzie died in a fire.

Heizer left her in the early 1870s and she obtained a divorce on 6 October 1874 in Story County, Iowa.

She married a 3rd time to a man by the name of Stowall.

Note: this Corey spelled with an "E". All the others in this Billy Sunday cemetery are spelled Cory.
