Minnesota Governor. He was admitted to the bar in 1932 and opened a law practice in Saint Paul, Minnesota. From 1935 to 1939, he was an assistant district attorney for Dakota County. In 1966, he was elected the 32nd Governor of Minnesota and served until 1971. Not seeking reelection, he resumed legal practice until his death.
