YAKIMA - Isabel Esther Gilliam of Yakima, WA passed away September 10, 2007 in Yakima, she was 88.
Isabel was born December 31, 1918 in Wibaux, MT to John and Pauline Kiedrowski. She married James F. Gilliam in 1946, they were married 40 years before his death.
Isabel moved to Grandview in 1948 where she taught the fourth grade at Arthur H. Smith Grade School for the duration of her teaching career. Isabel received her ABA degree from Central Washington State College in 1964. She retired from teaching in 1980 and moved to Selah, WA in 1981. She had lived in Yakima for the last 10 years.
After retiring Isabel enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing bridge. She loved to bake cookies with her grandchildren and spending time with them.
She was a member of the Young Ladies Institute, the Women's Century Club, the Washington State Retired Teachers Associations, and a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Isabel is survived by her daughter Sandra Doll and her husband Mark of Yakima, her daughter-in-law Janet Gilliam of Spokane as well as her grandchildren; Mark Doll Jr., Katie Gilliam, Raelynn Graham, Jennifer Gilliam, and Jayme Gilliam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband James Gilliam and son Jay Gilliam, and her 8 brothers and sisters.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 6pm at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors.
The funeral mass will be on Friday, September 14, 2007, at 9am at Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Selah.
Burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice.
