World Rally Championship Driver. Born in Scotland, he began his racing career in 1986 and won the British Rally Championship in 1991 and 1992. McRae won the world driver's title in 1995, helped Subaru to the Manufacturers' title in 1995, 1996 and 1997, and Citroën in 2003. In 2006 McRae and co-driver Nicky Grist competed for Subaru in the first live televised American rally in Los Angeles as part of the X-Games. Queen Elizabeth II named him a Member of the Order of British Empire in 1996. He died in a helicopter crash.
