NELLIE MAE SPENCER
Nellie Mae Spencer, 83 of Elmer, passed away Saturday, June 21, 1997 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Born Oct. 8, 1913, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Ora (Roberts) Bonifield. On Oct. 8, 1933 in Callao, she married Herman Spencer, who survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sylvia Spencer of La Plata; two grandchildren, Roxy Boyer of Dalhart, Texas, and Bruce Spencer of Elmer, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Beau Spencer and Memory Ann Hall; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lester Bonifield; one half-brother, Charles Bonifield; one sister, Clara Bonifield; and one half-sister, Pearl Riley.
Mrs. Spencer lived most of her life in Elmer, graduating from Elmer High School in 1931. She was a member of the Milam Chapel Methodist Church and was very active in many Elmer communtiy activities.
Funeral services were held at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata on Tuesday, June 24, 1997. Burial was in the Milam Chapel Cemetery, southwest of Atlanta.
