MRS. EMILY WARD EXPIRES; REFUGE RITES THURSDAY

Mrs. Emily June Ward, 83, the widow of Luther Ward, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lee Hoots, in the Dana community.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Refuge Baptist Church with the Rev. N. A. Melton officiating. Interment will be in the Refuge Cemetery with nephews as pallbearers and nieces as flower bearers. She will remain at the Jackson-Thompson Funeral Home until the service hour.

Mrs. Ward was a lifelong resident of the Dana community and a daughter of the late Jesse and Sarah Guice Maxwell. She was a member of the Refuge Church for 68 years.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Hoots; a brother, Frank Maxwell of Hendersonville; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Jackson of Asheville and Mrs. Bertha Garren of Hendersonville; three grandsons and seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews
