Senior Fellow and Bursar He obtained his B.A. degree in 1821 when he was a seventh wrangler and was soon elected a Fellow of the college. While an undergraduate, he was awarded the Bell Scholarship in 1821 and a Craven Scholar in 1823. He was ordained both a deacon and a priest in 1833, but never held any clerical post. He worked at the college until his death.
