Christopher Chris Johnson Sr., son, husband, father, firefighter and friend to many, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007, after a long battle with leukemia. He was 32 years old. Chris was born in Riverside, Ca., the son of Fred Alexander Johnson and Pamela Cornelia. Raised in Southern California, he attended Washington High School. Chris was Student Body President as well as starting wide receiver and Captain of the football team. Chris moved to Fresno and attended California State University, Fresno where he graduated in 1995, with a degree in Computer Science. Chris then attended Fresno City College Fire Academy, where he graduated in 1996. Chris joined the Fresno County Fire Protection District in 1996. He went on to join the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in 1997.
Chris is survived by Rebecca Johnson, his wife of six years; son, Christopher Alexander Johnson, Jr.; parents, Fred Alexander Johnson, Pamela Cornelia, and Larry and Elizabeth Davis; brothers, Alexus Johnson and Iven Davis; sisters, Dionne Johnson and Raquel Norman; grandmother, Grace Johnson; and several long time friends and co-workers.
A Funeral Service will be held at People's Church on Cedar and Herndon in Fresno, on Friday, September 28, 2007, at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will immediately follow, with full fire department procession to Sanger Cemetery.
