US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1813, commenced law practice in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and was a member of the State House of Representatives in 1815 and 1816. In 1819, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Congresses, serving until 1823. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law, was the Deputy Attorney General for Luzerne County in 1824 and elected to the State House of Representatives in 1827, serving until his death. US Congressman Charles Denison, was his uncle.
