Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a First Sergeant in Company G, 2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Sailors Creek, Virginia on April 6, 1865. His citation reads "Capture of battle flag of the 8th Florida Infantry (C.S.A.)". His Medal was issued on April 24, 1865. He ended the war as a Lieutenant.
