Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan 17, in the Ogden 15th Ward Chapel with Bishop Rich Humphreys officiating. Interment ws in the Afton Cemetery, Afton Wyo., where graveside services were conducted by Howard McKim.
LaVerna was born Sept 2, 1892 in Thayne, Wyo., a daughter of Thomas Lorenzo and Martha Tiresha Vail Van Noy.
She married Rulon Osmond on Oct 6, 1913 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Nov 24, 1917. she married John Neyman. They were later divorced. She then married Clarence Hoopes. He later died.
She was the mother of George V. Osmond, father of the singing Osmond family . She appeared on many TV specials with the Osmond family and accompanied them on many world wide tours.
LaVerna was a active member of the LDS Church. She served in many auxiliary organizations. She was a former member of the Farr West Stake Board Relief Society. She was also an artists.
Surviving her death are two sons and one daughter, Rulon V. Osmond of Hyde Park, Utah; George V. Osmond, serving with his wife in the London England LDS Mission; Mrs Del (Cora) Thinnes of Ogden; three stepsons and two stepdaughters, Lavere Hoopes of Salt Lake City; Byron Hoopes of Fairview, Wyo,; Warren G. Hoopes of Victorville, Calif.; Claudia Roylance of Jackson, Wyo,; Lorna Henderson of Riverton, Wyo,; 32 grandchildren, 117 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Nellie Richardson of Salmon, Idaho; Ora Yeaman of Burley, Idaho; Delpha Bird and Martha McKim both of Thayne, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ralph, seven brothers, three sisters, one grandson and two great grandchildren.
