US Congressman. He was successful in the real estate business and served as a member of the State House of Representatives in 1891, 1893, 1895, 1897 and 1899. In 1911, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-second Congress and to the three succeeding Congresses serving until 1919. He successfully contested the election of Patrick McLane to the Sixty-sixth Congress and served in 1921. A unsuccessful candidate for renomination, he resumed the real estate business until his death.
