Burton Lewis Barckley was born at Seneca,Ill., March 19,1871 and his parents moved to Hoopston,Ill. shortly afterwards. They lived there until he was 13 years old when he voved with his parents to Barnes,Kansas, where he resided for fifteen years. He attended schools in Illinois and Kansas and later went to business college at Beatrice,Neb. At the age of 28 he came to Page where he took up farming four miles northwest of town.
On May 4, 1901, he was married to Edna Viola Parsons and they lived on their farm home until her passing January 19,1926. This union was blessed with three children, June, of DesMoines,Ia.,who is teaching school,Ruth(Mrs. Albert Wagner), of Max,N. D. and Maurice Barckley of Oakland,Calif.
Deceased was baptised and joined the Baptist church at Ottawa,Kansas in March, 1893. After his removal to this state he became a member of the Baptist church here at Page and was a very active church worker. He mde many friends in this community and was held in high esteem by all those who came in contact with him. He was Sunday School superintendent for a number of years, clerk of the school board of Rochester township for 17 years and was also township clerk for some time.
After his wife passed away Mr. Barckley went to California where he stayed for one year and later returned to Page and lived here for two years.
Mr. Barckley was in failing health for some time and became seriously ill about two months ago. He passed away in Valley City, Sept. 12 at tge age if 67 years,5 months and 23 days.

He is survived by the three children,named above, and one grandson, Sherman Alberton Wagner.
