US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1901, commenced law practice in Lawton, Oklahoma and was a member of the State House of Representatives in 1904 and 1905. In 1907, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth Congress and to the five succeeding Congresses, serving until 1921. He did not seek renomination, resumed his law practice and was the Democratic National Committeeman from Oklahoma from 1924 to 1940.
