Herman Beaty, 82, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002.
He was owner and operator of Beaty's Phillips 66 and had worked in the grocery store business for several years.
He was a member of Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in the 28th Infantry. He was a member of Cleveland Lodge No. 134 Free and Accepted Masons, York Rite and Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Ethel Mayo Beaty; four brothers: Roy Beaty, Claude Beaty, Loyd Beaty and Leon Beaty; and one sister, Ruby Drennon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 1/2 years, Elious Cash Beaty of Cleveland; one daughter and son-in-law: Juanell and Jack Mantooth of Cleveland; three grandchildren and spouses: Pam and Tim Rogers, Jack Allen and Robin Mantooth and Michael and Marsha Mantooth; seven great-grandchildren: Corey Mantooth, Tyler Mantooth, Briania Mantooth, Bret Rogers, Suze Rogers, Makayela Manooth and Morgan Mantooth; one brother, Cecil Beaty of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Melton officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Guinn and Anita Green. Interment will follow in Beaty Cemetery with Jack Allen Mantooth, Michael Mantooth, Corey Mantooth, Tyler Mantooth, Bret Rogers and Tim Rogers serving as pallbearers.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Beaty Cemetery, in care of Terry Loyd Beaty, 2036 Broomfield Road, Cleveland, TN 37323.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home with a Masonic memorial service at 8 p.m. Phone 476-8575 for more information.
